Before you can add external subtitles, you need to have MX Player or VLC Player set up on your mobile device. You can easily install both from the Google Play Store on your Android device.

Download MX Player

Once installed, launch Cinema HD on your device and go to Menu > Settings > Choose Default Video Player. Select either MX or VLC Player.

Alternatively, if you long-press the link you want to stream, you’ll get the ‘Play With’ option. This will show a list of installed video players, from which you can select MX or VLC.

  • Play the title you want to stream in Cinema HD using MX Player.
  • Tap the three dot menu > Subtitles.
  • You’ll see two options: Open and Online Subtitles.
  • Use Open to select an SRT file from your local storage.
  • If you don’t have an SRT file, tap Online Subtitles > Search. MX Player will fetch subtitle tracks for you.
  • Tap the subtitle track from the search results and you’re all set.

One cool feature of MX Player is its built in subtitle synchronization tool, which lets you fix any lag between the video and subtitles.

Just like MX Player, you can add an SRT subtitle file in VLC Media Player.

If you want VLC Media Player to search for subtitles, just tap on Download Subtitles.

Unlike MX Player, VLC doesn’t offer as much control over subtitles, but it’s still a solid option.
